September 12, 2026
If you have been watching for the best cruise deals 2026 has to offer, this is a good weekend to pay attention.
Princess Cruises is changing several Caribbean itineraries. Norwegian Cruise Line is preparing to launch its biggest ship yet. And NCL’s current 50% off cruise promotion has a booking deadline at the end of September.
Here’s the thing: cruise news is not just fun to read. These updates can affect your port stops, excursions, cabin choices, and total vacation cost.
I’m covering the latest from ITS Travel Services in Flushing, Michigan, so you can make sense of what matters before you book.
Princess Cruises Replaces Princess Cays on Many Caribbean Itineraries
Princess Cruises is shifting most of its Caribbean calls from Princess Cays to RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay beginning in fall 2026.
The updated schedules affect six Princess ships:
- Enchanted Princess
- Caribbean Princess
- Sun Princess
- Coral Princess
- Regal Princess
- Sky Princess
The line is also adding visits to Celebration Key on select Caribbean and Panama Canal sailings. You can read Princess Cruises’ official announcement about its expanded Caribbean program and Celebration Key here.
What Sun Princess passengers need to know
The November 22, 2026, Eastern Caribbean sailing aboard Sun Princess now includes RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay instead of Princess Cays.
If you already booked an excursion at Princess Cays, Princess says it will be automatically canceled and refunded to your original form of payment. Once the new port information is fully loaded, new Half Moon Cay excursion options should become available.
That means you should:
- Log in to your Princess Cruise Personalizer or app.
- Review the updated itinerary.
- Confirm that your Princess Cays excursion or cabana has been removed.
- Watch for your refund.
- Compare the new RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay excursions when they appear.
And honestly? I know itinerary changes can make people nervous. You planned around a particular beach day, excursion, or accessibility need. It is completely fair to want clear answers.
Docking or tendering? Here’s the important distinction
RelaxAway, Half Moon Cay has a new pier on the north side of the island. Some ships will be able to dock, allowing guests to walk directly ashore.
Other ships may still anchor offshore and use tender boats to reach the island’s original landing area.
For the November 22 Sun Princess sailing, the final dock-versus-tender arrangement may depend on operational planning and the exact port assignment. Do not assume that every ship will use the pier.
Pro Tip: If tendering is difficult for you because of mobility concerns, ask your travel advisor to check the latest port details and accessibility guidance. The words “Half Moon Cay” do not automatically tell you whether you will walk off the ship or board a tender boat.

Norwegian Aura Debuts in 2027 With Plenty of Wow Moments

Norwegian Cruise Line’s new Norwegian Aura is scheduled to debut on May 21, 2027, with a seven-day Mediterranean voyage from Trieste, Italy, to Tarragona, Spain.
The sailing is expected to visit destinations such as:
- Valletta, Malta
- Salerno, Italy
- Civitavecchia for Rome
After its European debut, Norwegian Aura will cross the Atlantic and begin seven-day Caribbean sailings from Miami in June 2027.
The current plans include Eastern Caribbean itineraries with stops such as Puerto Plata, St. Thomas, Tortola, and Great Stirrup Cay. Winter sailings are expected to include Western Caribbean ports such as Cozumel, Costa Maya, Roatán, and Harvest Caye.
You can review the official ship announcement from Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings or browse the Norwegian Aura itinerary page.
Ocean Heights is built for families and active travelers
The ship’s signature attraction is Ocean Heights, a three-story open-air activity complex.
Norwegian Aura will feature:
- Six waterslides
- An approximately 82-foot ropes course
- A rock-climbing wall
- Mini golf
- Carnival-style games
- Open-air cabanas
- Family aqua park areas
- Expanded pool deck space
For families, this could be the kind of ship where the onboard experience is nearly as exciting as the ports.
For adults, the two-deck Mandara Spa may be the bigger draw. The thermal suite is expected to include a Sensory Rain Pool, along with hot and cold experiences, relaxation areas, and other wellness features.
Dining, The Haven, and a new Indian restaurant
Norwegian Aura is planned to offer 22 dining venues and food-and-beverage options, including NCL’s first dedicated Indian specialty restaurant, Tamara.
Tamara is expected to feature dishes inspired by Indian cuisine, an open-view kitchen, and tandoor cooking. If Indian food is your jam, this is one of the ship’s most interesting additions.
The ship will also feature the largest Haven enclave in the Norwegian Cruise Line fleet. The Haven is NCL’s “ship-within-a-ship” concept, with private suites, a dedicated restaurant, lounge, outdoor spaces, priority services, and concierge and butler assistance.
Here’s my honest take: Norwegian Aura will appeal to more than one type of traveler. Kids can chase slides and ropes-course thrills. Adults can enjoy the spa, restaurants, and Haven spaces. Couples can mix active sea days with quiet balcony mornings.
That flexibility is a big reason why new-ship sailings often sell quickly.
NCL’s 50% Off Cruise Sale Ends September 30
Norwegian Cruise Line is currently promoting 50% off all cruises for eligible bookings made through September 30, 2026.
The advertised sailing window runs from October 15, 2026, through April 30, 2028. The offer may also be combined with NCL’s Free at Sea benefits, depending on the sailing and current terms.
Free at Sea may include benefits such as:
- Open bar options
- Specialty dining
- Wi-Fi
- Shore excursion credits
- Additional guest savings on select cruises
You can review the current offer and terms through NCL’s cruise deals page and promotion terms.
Myth-busting: Does “50% off” mean your entire vacation costs half as much?
Not necessarily.
The percentage usually applies to eligible cruise fares under specific promotional rules. Taxes, port fees, gratuities, airfare, transfers, travel protection, and optional upgrades may still apply.
That does not make the deal unhelpful. It simply means you should compare the complete vacation cost instead of stopping at the headline.
At ITS Travel Services, we can help you compare the cruise fare, flights from Michigan, pre-cruise hotels, transfers, and package inclusions together.
And let me be straight with you: this sale is worth checking before September 30, especially if you are considering a 2027 or early 2028 cruise.
Holland America Moves Oosterdam’s Evolution Transformation Earlier

Holland America Line has moved the Oosterdam Evolution transformation five weeks earlier than originally planned.
Because of the schedule change, sailings between September 11 and December 9, 2027, have been canceled. Holland America says affected guests are being contacted directly with information and rebooking options.
Oosterdam is now scheduled to return to service on October 31, 2027, with five new voyages opening for sale in early October 2026.
The new itineraries include:
- A 10-day voyage from Civitavecchia to Trieste
- An 11-day Mediterranean sailing from Trieste to Athens
- A seven-day Mediterranean cruise from Athens to Barcelona
- A 13-day transatlantic crossing from Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale
- An 11-day round-trip Caribbean cruise from Fort Lauderdale
If you were booked on an affected Oosterdam cruise, keep an eye on your email and contact your travel advisor. You do not need to sort through the change alone.
Holland America has also posted information about the reimagined Oosterdam and new bookings.
Pro Tip: Book the Cruise, Not Just the Lowest Price
I understand why big travel websites are tempting. You can search quickly, compare hundreds of results, and click “book” at any hour.
But cruises involve more than choosing a ship.
You may also need to compare:
- Cabin location
- Dining and beverage packages
- Port changes
- Excursion availability
- Flights from Flint, Detroit, or another Michigan airport
- Pre-cruise hotel nights
- Airport and port transfers
- Travel protection
- Refund and cancellation terms
My first cruise was a 2012 honeymoon aboard Carnival Imagination. I remember sitting on the balcony in the morning, breathing in the sea air, and realizing why people become lifelong cruisers.
Since then, I have helped friends, families, and travelers plan cruises that fit their comfort levels and budgets.
That is the advantage of working with a local agency. From Flushing, Fenton, Grand Blanc, and throughout mid-Michigan, you can get personal help instead of trying to decode every promotion alone.

Which Cruise News Matters Most to You?
- Choose Princess Cruises if you are interested in Half Moon Cay, Caribbean itineraries, or updated private-island experiences.
- Look at Norwegian Aura if you want a brand-new ship with slides, family activities, Tamara, expanded spa spaces, and a large Haven.
- Check the NCL 50% off promotion before September 30, 2026.
- Consider Holland America if you prefer a more relaxed style and want to follow the reimagined Oosterdam’s new Mediterranean, transatlantic, and Caribbean voyages.
