Trending Cruise News and Deals: Holland America’s Early Debut, Carnival’s Weather Shuffle & Fall Savings (September 28, 2026)

If you love cruising, this is one of those weeks when it pays to pay attention.

Several cruise lines are opening new sailings, changing ship deployments, and offering meaningful fall savings. Some deals are available now, while others are expected to open very soon.

And honestly? The right sailing can disappear quickly when a new ship, a popular itinerary, or a strong promotion enters the picture.

I’ve been hooked on cruising since my first Carnival cruise in 2012. My then-wife and I took the Carnival Imagination for our honeymoon, and I still remember sitting on the balcony with the fresh sea air rolling in. Since then, I’ve helped travelers from Flushing, Michigan, the Detroit area, and beyond find cruises that fit their budgets and their travel style.

Here’s the latest cruise news and the deals worth watching this week.

News and Deals: Holland America Moves Oosterdam’s Big Makeover Forward

Holland America Line is moving the Oosterdam’s major “Evolution” transformation forward by five weeks because demand has been so strong.

That is great news if you want to be among the first guests aboard the newly refreshed ship. It also means Holland America is adding five new voyages across the Mediterranean, Atlantic, and Caribbean.

The first post-transformation sailing is scheduled to depart October 31, 2027, on a 10-day cruise from Rome to Trieste.

The added voyages include:

  • Rome to Trieste: 10 days, departing October 31, 2027
  • Trieste to Athens: 11 days, departing November 10, 2027
  • Athens to Barcelona: 7 days, departing November 21, 2027
  • Barcelona to Fort Lauderdale: 13 days, departing November 28, 2027
  • Fort Lauderdale round trip: 11 days in the Caribbean, departing December 11, 2027

The transformation is expected to include new stateroom and suite categories, the Grand Dutch Café, and a redesigned Ocean Bar. You can read the official details from Holland America Line.

One important note: previously scheduled Oosterdam sailings between September 11 and December 9, 2027, were canceled to accommodate the earlier dry dock.

If you already had one of those sailings on your radar, or you were booked, now is the moment to look at rebooking options. The new voyages are expected to open for general sale in early October, so this is a good time to start the conversation before the best cabins go.

Carnival News: A New Galveston Ship, and a Reminder That Weather Happens

Carnival Tropicale reservations are now open for the ship’s first season from Galveston, Texas, beginning April 15, 2028.

This will be Carnival’s fifth and final Excel-class ship. The new vessel will offer:

  • 4-, 5-, 6-, and 8-night cruises
  • Sailings to Mexico, The Bahamas, and the Western Caribbean
  • Departures from Galveston
  • Access to destinations such as Celebration Key, RelaxAway, Isla Tropicale, Puerta Maya, Progreso, and Nassau

Families will have plenty to look forward to, including Carnival WaterWorks Ultra, new entertainment, mini golf, sports areas, and fresh dining concepts. You can view the official announcement and Carnival Tropicale sailings here.

Of course, Carnival also had a very different kind of update this week.

A nor’easter delayed the Carnival Sunshine’s return to Norfolk. As a result, a following Bahamas sailing lost a full night and its scheduled Bimini stop.

Carnival Spirit also had Hawaii calls reordered because of Hurricane Nolo.

Here’s the thing: cruise lines work hard to adjust itineraries when weather gets rough, but the ocean always gets the final say. That is exactly why using a travel advisor can help. If your port times change, your cruise is shortened, or you need help with flights and hotels, you have a real person to call, not just a search bar and a long automated menu.

Norwegian Cruise Line: 50% Off Is Still Live

Norwegian Cruise Line’s 50% off cruise fares promotion is still available for eligible bookings during the current fall sale period.

Select sailings also include Free at Sea perks, which may include benefits such as:

  • Beverage packages
  • Specialty dining
  • Wi-Fi
  • Shore excursion credits
  • Other onboard extras, depending on the sailing

Military travelers may also qualify for a 10% discount, while first responders may qualify for a 5% discount.

Let me be straight with you: don’t assume every offer stacks automatically. Cruise promotions can have separate rules, and sometimes you must compare two fare options to see which one gives you the better total value.

We can compare the numbers for you instead of making you sort through pages of fine print.

See current promotions on the Norwegian Cruise Line deals page.

Princess Cruises: Strong Fall Savings for Families and Alaska Travelers

Princess Cruises is offering some of the most attention-grabbing fall savings right now.

Bookings made between September 1 and November 5, 2026, may qualify for:

  • Up to $600 in instant savings per stateroom
  • Free cruise fares for the 3rd and 4th guests on select voyages
  • Up to 40% off Alaska sailings
  • $99 deposits on select Alaska cruises

Remember, “free” third and fourth guests generally still pay taxes, fees, and port expenses. They also typically must share the same stateroom with the first two guests.

Princess has also opened planning for its 2026 holiday sailings to Hawaii and the Caribbean. If you are thinking about celebrating Christmas or New Year’s at sea, it is smart to compare options now. Holiday cabins, especially family-friendly categories, do not always hang around.

Review the current offer details on Princess Cruises’ promotions page.

Disney Cruise Line: Discounts Across 141 Sail Dates

Disney Cruise Line continues to offer discounts across 141 sail dates through May 2027.

That is a significant number of opportunities for families, especially if your dates are flexible. Offers may include reduced fares on select stateroom categories, special rates for third and fourth guests, and restricted guarantee rooms (that’s cruise-line-speak for letting the line assign your exact room later).

Disney sailings are available from ports including:

  • Fort Lauderdale
  • Port Canaveral
  • Galveston
  • San Diego
  • Vancouver
  • Southampton

If Disney is your family’s jam, compare the total cost carefully. A discount on the cruise fare is helpful, but you also want to factor in flights, transportation, hotels, and the type of stateroom you actually want.

Royal Caribbean Is Blending Cruise and Resort Vacations

Royal Caribbean’s Hero of the Seas is in its final pre-launch phase, with 2027 Miami sailings on sale.

Meanwhile, Legend of the Seas is heading to Fort Lauderdale, giving South Florida travelers another exciting option for Caribbean cruising.

Royal Caribbean Group also received support from the Florida-Caribbean Cruise Association for its planned $3 billion stake in Sandals and Beaches resorts.

Why does that matter to you?

It could make cruise-and-resort combinations even more interesting. Imagine pairing a few nights at a Caribbean all-inclusive resort with a cruise, or adding a resort stay before or after your sailing. These land-and-sea vacation packages can create big “wow moments,” but they also require careful coordination.

That is where we can help connect the pieces.

You can explore Royal Caribbean’s upcoming ships through the Hero of the Seas page.

More Cruise News Worth Watching

A few other developments caught my eye this week:

  • Windstar Cruises: The new all-suite Star Explorer debuts in the Mediterranean on December 28, 2026, beginning its winter 2026–27 season. The ship will focus on longer stays and more time ashore in destinations such as Barcelona, Málaga, Genoa, Catania, and Nice. Learn more about Windstar’s European plans.
  • Cunard: Queen Elizabeth has completed its final Alaska season. Cunard does not currently show an Alaska program for 2027, so travelers interested in Alaska should watch inventory early and compare other cruise lines before choices narrow.
  • Ambassador Cruise Line: Oceania’s Sirena is being purchased and will be renamed Ambella. Beginning in 2028, the ship is expected to serve the German-speaking market from Bremerhaven and Kiel.

Pro Tip: Why Book Cruise Deals With a Travel Agency?

Big travel websites are useful for browsing. But browsing is not the same as building a complete vacation.

When you book with a travel agency for cruises, we can help you:

  • Compare cruise lines and actual cabin values
  • Check whether promotions can be combined
  • Watch for price adjustments or better offers
  • Coordinate flights, hotels, rental cars, and transfers
  • Plan shore excursions
  • Handle itinerary changes when weather interrupts your plans

We can also help you decide whether a cruise deal is truly a deal. A low fare may not include drinks, dining, gratuities, flights, or the room location you want.

I know the process can feel overwhelming. I’ve been there myself. That is why we keep things simple and explain what you are actually paying for.
